HEAD OF A HORSE

I am sure that the 'title' above is a description of the work, rather than an actual title.

The work was drawn to the attention of the webmaster by a kind site visitor, who did not advise the origin of the image. If indeed it is by 'Schenck', (and it surely looks as though it is by the partial signature just visible at bottom right), it is the first 'Schenck' work the webmaster has seen which depicts a horse.

He believes it, however, to be an oil on canvas of 59.5 x 49 cm. in size. Which was sold or maybe offered for sale, on Dec. 10, 1998.

Schenck work. The head of a horse, probably a descriptive phrase rather than a true title.

UNKNOWN SCHENCK WORK No. 16

The following work was provided by the same visitor who provided the above horse head image. An auction item, it would seem, but the webmaster does not know which auction house & when. The work was described in French as being 'Berger et ses moutons dans un paysage enneigé'. In the English translation offered, 'Shepherd and his flock on a snowy mountainside'. The size of the work is unknown to the webmaster.

The work is signed at lower left.

Schenck work. Title unknown. See text.

More when I get more! Maybe YOU could provide new data or could provide a clue as to where new data about the above works (or indeed any other Schenck work) might be found. I would truly welcome your input.
