PLAYING IN THE SNOW
It would be better if I was able to tell you more about this work that in fact I can tell you. I do know that the work is an oil on canvas, is of 60 cm. x 90 cm. in size & is signed by the artist - as you can see in the bottom right of the image below. It was sold at auction, it would seem, on Sep. 16, 1999, by Sotheby's in London, England, for £7,475. At that time that would be a little over $12,000 U.S. dollars, so far as I can see. The above data came from the now long gone 'www.antiquesbulletin.com' website, via 'Information' & 'Art Prices Index', I understand.
Unfortunately I do not know in which year the work was painted. An interesting work however. Since there are no sheep to be seen anywhere in the picture!
UNKNOWN SCHENCK PAINTING No. 7
I include this work here because, like the work above, it is a Schenck work without any visible sheep!
The work was sold a few years ago on e-Bay (on Jun. 8, 2005). The item sold for EUR 301, or U.S. $363.19. I trust that there will be no objections to my using the data & related images on this non-profit & informational site.
The item was listed as being 'Paysage de Montagne' which I believe to be not the title of the work, but rather a description of it. The words mean 'Mountain Landscape'.
The work was described as being of 40.5 cm. by 60 cm. in size.It was signed at bottom left by the artist, as you can see, at left.
More when I get more! Maybe YOU could provide new data or could provide a clue as to where new data about the above works (or indeed any other Schenck work) might be found. I would truly welcome your input.
