As I said on the earlier image page, images related to the Volturno disaster are not easy to find. But we are now up to page 3, so we must be making progress. The other image pages are here. i.e. pages 27, 28 & 30.

This third page is to feature the photographic images that appeared in the Arthur Spurgeon book The Burning of the "Volturno", the full text of which appears on pages 2 & 3 of this site. The images appear here thanks to Cary Ginell of Thousand Oaks, California who kindly scanned them all. Cary thank you so very much.

Those two Spurgeon text pages do contain parts of some of the images contained in the book, but not in the size and clarity that I am now able to provide. There are in fact 21 images in the book, and they are all presented on this page. The horizontal images are all shown as full screen width as possible. The vertical ones are in a smaller size so the images can be viewed in their entirety without scrolling. Each image has the related descriptive text as it was published as the caption. The photos need no further comment from me, except to say that I did pair a few images for better presentation on this page. So the sequence, while basically that in the book, is not perfect. The correct image sequence number for each image can be seen when you 'hover' over that image.

The images are all of large size. Enjoy!

If any reader can provide material to add to the page, or provide more information about any of the images already on the page, do please write to me.
