Problems? Your computer may refuse to show anything other than an empty box. If so, and you are using Windows 7 as the webmaster does, fixing the problem is most simple. Print the image you will come to here & follow the few instructions. In other browsers I presume that you would follow the same approach i.e. get to the 'Java' program on your computer & fix the security level.

Of course you do need to install 'Java' to be able to see it. Easily done! It installs quickly & it is free. Just click on 'Free Java Download' here.

This is exactly how you see a turtle when you surprise him when hiking in the country. Alert, head up, lying on a log & ready to slip into the water in an instant & disappear from view. Another fine image from the Soviet 'PhotoArt of Nature' image archive. Can anyone tell me whose image it is? That Soviet site is long gone, as this site must move to a new location in 2009.

I understand that the very existence of certain species of turtle is threatened by global warming. Apparently the sex of the turtle that emerges from the egg is determined by temperature. So ALL turtle offspring in the future could well be females & the species may therefore be doomed. Mankind will have to intervene if the affected species are to survive - i.e. gather the eggs & incubate them at lower temperatures to ensure that there continue to be males of the species.
