SHEEP IN A BLIZZARD / SCHAFE IM SCHNEESTURM (c. 1850)
Next, an original oil on canvas painting which was visible on the website of Galerie am Museum. The work is entitled in German 'Schafe im Schneesturm' which in English, I believe, becomes 'Sheep in a blizzard'. It is dated as being c 1850 and is 47 x 66 cm in size. I do not speak German & was unable therefore to determine from the website whether Galerie am Museum is an art museum open to the public or a fine art vendor. Perhaps I should say 'was', because my Galerie am Museum links ceased to operate. But this may be a current link, assuming that 'Galerie am Museum' & 'Galerie Obrist am Museum', of Essen, Germany are one and the same.
Next, I present, really just a thumbnail of an original oil on canvas painting which I thought was sold, on Nov. 3, 2001 by Northeast Auctions of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. But it would seem that it may have been resold in 2003. The work is entitled 'Sheep on a Snowy Mountain'. I do not know its size, nor the year it was painted. If anybody has access to any more data, I sure would like to add it to this page. 'Prices4Antiques.com' where I saw the reference, believe the artist to be Danish. The image is courtesy of Northeast Auctions & Ronald Bourgeault.
More when I get more! Maybe YOU could provide new data or could provide a clue as to where new data about these works (or indeed any other Schenck works) might be found. I would truly welcome your input.
