The next image is of another Hemy work from the now non functioning Bellasis site. So far I have not found a current link. The print they offered was entitled 'Man of War (Britannia)'. If anybody can advise me of a new Bellasis link, I would be glad to list it here. A print is available at EasyArt.
Just possibly related, I note that Artprice.com (search for Hemy & then Thomas M. Madawaska Hemy) include in their list of watercolours sold at auction a work entitled 'H.M.S. Brittania moored in a Bay'. It was, I read, a 25 x 34.5 cm watercolour that was sold on May 21, 1998. It may however not relate in any way to the work on this page.
I really have no knowledge at all of this work. But will add in such data as is later received.
In a guestbook entry in Jun. 2012, Rose Stockwell advises that she owns a print of the Hemy work - a print 'signed Thomas M. Hemy in the bottom right hand corner of the print and in pencil on the canvas outside the print at the bottom right in pencil. At the top right, just above the print, a small handwritten pencil note says `London published June 1st 1897 by Reynolds & Co, 32 St. James Street, copyright registered'. Thank you for that information, Rose. It would seem that Rose's print is an original print & not a modern re-strike reproduction.
