LOWESTOFT HARBOUR WITH FISHING BOATS AND A PADDLE TUG (1876)
Another Thomas Hemy work that is available on this page thanks to a kind site visitor, who advised me in fact, that the work was to be auctioned by Anderson and Garland, a noted auction house based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. An excellent part of the country, one would think, to find works by the Hemy brothers. The sale was to take place on Jun. 20 & 21, 2006 - & I presume that it did. The work was described as being 23 3/4 x 35 3/4 inches in size (60.5 x 90.5 cm) and entitled 'Lowestoft Harbour with fishing boats and a paddle tug' (but those may be descriptive words rather than the actual title of the work). Signed & dated 1876. With an anticipated sale price of £500-800.
The image which was available through that link (no longer) is however rather smaller than what my site visitor has kindly provided. If YOU could add any data about this work, do, please, write to me.
A FISHING VILLAGE ON THE EAST COAST (1875)
They also had a second Thomas Hemy work in their auction sale of Jun. 20/21, 2006, along with five works by Bernard Benedict Hemy one of Hemy's artist brothers. The other Thomas Hemy work was of 15 1/2 x 23 3/4 inches in size (39.5 x 60 cm). Of 'A fishing village on the East Coast'. Signed & dated 1875 with an estimated sale price of £200-300.
The image which follows did not, I think, originate from the Anderson and Garland web site (no longer available there).
The webmaster is always happy to find information related to the subject matter of his various pages. If YOU could add any data to this list or help in any way, do drop me a line.
