Problems? Your computer may refuse to show anything other than an empty box. If so, and you are using Windows 7 as the webmaster does, fixing the problem is most simple. Print the image you will come to here & follow the few instructions. In other browsers I presume that you would follow the same approach i.e. get to the 'Java' program on your computer & fix the security level.

Of course you do need to install 'Java' to be able to see it. Easily done! It installs quickly & it is free. Just click on 'Free Java Download' here.

What a lovely image! I found it, many many years ago, on one of the many wallpaper sites but had no way to identify & credit the photographer. But now I can! The image is by Philip Greenspun who gratiously permits his work to be used on non commercial websites. The image was, I believe, taken at the San Diego Wild Animal Park & makes a truly fine 'Lake' image. Be sure to visit Philip's magnificent website by clicking here. But ... as this site must move to a new location in 2009, the image used above seems no longer to be available.

I came across a fine 'slider puzzle' applet created by Axel Fontaine who used to live near Brussels, Belgium. This image was my first application of Axel's java applet. There are 9, 16, 25, 36 and 49 square versions available through this page. Enjoy!
