A simple subject but one which makes a very good slider puzzle indeed. It is the
copyrighted work of Haim Ziv - until 2004 a press photographer with the 'Yedioth Aharonoth' daily newspaper in Tel-Aviv,
Israel. The image, entitled 'Field of Hats' was, I learn, one of a series of images about orthodox Jewry and
was taken, using a Canon D30 camera, at a funeral in a small town near Tel-Aviv.
Over a decade ago, likely in 2001. Haim
has an archive of his images here and
invites you
to visit. You can see Haim's original
image low on this page. You can also see it here. I saw the
image myself, however, many moons ago, on Steve's Digicams photographic
website where it was a worthy daily winner in the month of Sep. 2001. The
image appears here with Haim's kind permission.
I was interested to learn that Yedioth Aharonoth, the daily tabloid newspaper with
the largest
circulation in Israel, (about 300,000 copies), has been publishing since December 1939, a number of years
before the State of Israel came into existence. And that a project was
under way, back in 2001, to digitize 60 years of the newspaper's history to make it available electronically.
It is most probably long since completed.

just south of the city of Brussels in Belgium. Axel invited free use of his fine applet which you can, I hope,
download here. Axel, we thank you!
